The bigotry behind the decision to end DACA is beyond me. What is clear is that the UNITED States of America is better off with Dreamers, with those who are proud and dedicated and hopeful. F imaginary lines and the squirming fear of haters, so blinded by the light of their enemy's innocence.
A homemade Haitian feast is more than enough to make my day, but last Saturday was sweet, above all, because we got to celebrate Johanne and Patrick. Our former, fellow East-Coasters-in-the-Bay got hitched in Barbados last April, so Johanne's mom hosted a get-together in Philadelphia last weekend for those of us who couldn't make it. Even the sky was tickled.
Above is the postcard invitation that I designed for the party.
It's inevitable, the nights become longer and a tad brisk and you realize that you're not in California anymore, honey, and that New Jersey summer is short and sweet.
I'm not gonna lie, I take transitions hard, as well as the unknown. But every time I've been in this place, it's because something bigger is in the works. Now, we put the time in and trust. It'll work out.
AFAR magazine's November/December hit stands yesterday, so I put together an Instagram story with a sneak peek inside. It took me longer than I'd like to admit (!) but it was fun to pull interesting bits of the magazine out and highlight destinations with lettering. The first, "plus", and gift guide slides are screenshots of short boomerang videos that were up, like the rest of the story, for 24 hours. It got about 3K views.
